Ljubljana – incetives, team building, activities
Ljubljana is the capital city of Slovenia and country’s largest city. In 2016 it was named Europe’s green capital and is one of Europe’s hidden gems.
Ljubljana is clean, safe and charming. The best way to explore Ljubljana is simply on foot or on bicycle. The heart of the city is its old town with Three bridges right in the centre. Ljubljanica River runs through the centre and divides it into two charming riverbanks, full of trees, cafes, bars, restaurants and antique stores. Ljubljana Castle stands tall on a hill above the city. Museums and parks are behind every corner.
Because of its location, Ljubljana always was a crossing point where different cultures met. This is still visible today, mainly in architecture, spirit of the people and of course cuisine. Influences from the Balkans, Habsburg monarchy and Venetian Italy came together and created somewhat exciting fusion of tastes – from cafe culture with trendy brunches and delicious Italian coffee, to fine dining and high quality restaurants. However, the main focus is on local products, wine selections and craft beers. Ljubljana also has one of the best farmer’s markets of all the Europe’s capitals and it is definitely worth a visit.
The centre of Ljubljana is small enough to cover by foot. Navigating or finding a street is easy as streets are clearly marked. You can also rent a bicycle or take a ride on a river boat and experience Ljubljana from a different perspective. For history buffs and lovers of culture, Ljubljana has a lot of great museums and galleries, where you can learn more about Slovenian history and culture.
